Greetings Faithful Disciples of Jesus,
I am excited because we continue to do great things for Jesus here at St. Mark’s. We’ve done a fantastic job of taking care of God’s building and each of you should take great pride in what we’ve accomplished together. Our most recent improvement was the sound system and I knew it would improve the quality but I had no idea it would improve the quality to the degree it did. The feedback I’ve received is pleasing to hear and I thank each and every one of you for making this happen. The quality is so much better because today’s technology is so much more advanced than what we had.
Which leads me into what I would like to say about our sign out front: the reader boards are old technology. They are hard to keep clean and often fog up making them difficult to read. We have to replace the bulbs quite often and it is a real challenge to maintain and update the message on the current sign. We are limited to one message where the new sign provides us the opportunity to unlimited possibilities. If our goal is to reach people for Jesus, this old technology is not serving us well.
As you drive around town please notice all the LED signs you see at churches and businesses. There is a reason you see these signs going up and that is because they effective. If I believed our current sign was working for us, I would not even consider replacing it. However, I pass out business cards every week and it so frustrating to hear people say they didn’t even know there was a church here. They don’t see us because our sign doesn’t capture their attention when they drive by and our building is set back pretty far from the road.
A new sign will overcome both of these challenges. It will capture people’s attention because it will have movement and color which will get their attention. On every project we have done people say, “Why are we doing this?” and then when it is completed we all end up loving it. I am confident the same will be true with our LED sign.
I know it will take all of us coming together to raise the money for the sign. I promise you it will look great and it will get St. Mark’s noticed. Please take a leap of faith and help us raise the money to get the sign installed soon. It would be wonderful if we could use it to help get the word out to new families about Rally Day in September.
